The EC Outreach Committee is anticipating another year of looking for innovative ways to assist in increasing membership in AAP. Our committee has been in existence since 2011. Our efforts have been focused on studying the process that a nonmember travels, from when they first learn about the Academy’s existence to the point at which they decide whether to apply for membership or not. We want to know why and how this decision is made.
We have developed the Ambassador Program, utilized at I&Cs, to match new attendees with a seasoned AAP member. This fills a gap since the mentoring program is for members only. Many of you have been our trusted volunteers and have helped us for the past two I&Cs. We appreciate your assistance and dedication to our goal. The feedback that we have received from the “Ambassadees” has been positive. Many have expressed interest in attending other AAP functions, and some have already joined as full members.
We also conducted a survey that was given to people who have attended an AAP function and have not (yet) joined. The results were posted in the January 2014 newsletter. Our Committee and EC are working on incorporating the changes and adjustments that address these stated concerns.
We are interested in continuing our work to achieve our goal and work closely with these AAP EC Committees: Membership, Retention, Mentoring, Publication, Salon/Chapters and Southern Region. We respectively ask for member feedback and suggestions for our Committee to pursue.
